Llamas have been used as pack animals for thousands of years. They are known by the indigenous people of Peru as “Silent Brothers.” They are quiet animals with a calm disposition. They are gentle and easy to handle; even for the novice. They have incredible hearing and eyesight enabling them spot game from several miles away and make excellent guards at camp.

Silent Brothers

Llamas are sure footed, have strong backs and can carry around 20% of their body weight, between 60-80lbs. Think about each llama as one good buddy. This enables you to pack in plenty of gear and good food making life at camp easy and comfortable. When the hunt is over two to three llamas can pack out a full sized de-boned elk. They are not blood shy. They are not gun shy.

Born to Pack

Llamas are low maintenance creatures. They are accustomed to high, arid environments and can thrive on little. Llamas have efficient digestive systems enabling them pull nutrients out of wide variety of foliage. They have padded feet with two toe nails making them sure footed and a low impact on the environment.
